If you happen to be in New York City next Wednesday February 2cd, you can celebrate Ground Hog's Day in a really big way. The Roots are filming a concert scene for an upcoming flick entitled 'Brooklyn Babylon' which features lead rapper Black Thought. The first 500 people who arrive at Webster Hall [125 east 11th between 3rd & 4th] get to peep out the Roots for one dollar. One dollar? Damn!, I recall the first time The Roots came out to San Fran we got to see them for free :) Make sure you good people are there by 7pm when the doors open. In fact I say take the day off and show up early to get yourself a spot on line.

For folks who aren't up on the movie, 'Brooklyn Babylon', its kind of like a Hip Hop version of West Side Story. Black Thought plays the role of a Rasta rapper from Crowns Heights, Brooklyn. He falls in love with an Orthodox Jewish girl who is already engaged. Talk about fireworks. It'll be interesting to see how this is handled considering the history of tension that have existed between Black and Jewish residents in Crowns Height. The folks behind this film are the same people [ Marc Levin and Off Line Entertainment] who put together the movie 'Slam'. Look for this flick to drop sometime in the Summer 2000
